Denali Blush
Denali Mountain, Mount McKinley, The Great One. The tallest peak in North America, the largest mountain from base to peak in the world. A wonderful subject to paint. Depicted here with evening alpenglow shining on its permanent snow cover, with misty hills and trees in the foreground.

Across the Arm
The iconic scenic drive on the Seward Highway along Turnagain Arm, looking at the Kenai Mountains, depicted with blooming fireweed.

Autumn Meets Winter on Highland Mountain
Highland Mountain towers over the Eagle River Valley. In the fall, the mountainside glows with the fiery shades of the tundra. When the snow first covers the mountaintops, winter and autumn meet in a stunning juxtaposition of colors and seasons.

Fireweed Fog
This piece was born from an adventure. I decided to explore off trail on top of Mount Baldy. On my way back to the trail, I saw the fog rolling in. I quickly checked my compass so I would know what direction I needed to go to reconnect with my route down the mountain. The entire area was soon completely socked in, but the fireweed remained vibrant and photogenic. Hiking in a literal cloud was a bit unnerving, but it made for some moody photographs and the inspiration for this painting.

Iditarod Trail Views
This painting was inspired by photos I took coming back from an overnight hike with my hiking crew at the Eagle River Nature Center. After spending the night at the Rapids Yurt and experiencing both snow and sleet, we were treated to a bright and sunny return trek the next day.

Misty Sunrise
My inspiration and reference for this painting was a beautiful photograph by Ed Beaudrou Photography, taken in Denali National Park.

Lady Aglow
Mt. Susitna, aka Sleeping Lady, is probably the most recognizable mountain in Southcentral Alaska. She can be seen from several viewpoints in Anchorage, Eagle River, and along portions of the Seward and Glenn Highways. One of my favorite mountains to paint. This particular painting was inspired by an incredible sunset witnessed by me and my kids when returning from a rafting trip on the Kenai River. It was spectacular, and we were treated to several perspectives and increasing intensity during our chase.
